Work by Urs-P. Twellmann-Switzerland

Urs Twellman-Switzerland

Inside OutSide

Material-MangoTree branches,Cashunut,Guvava(waste),White Acrylic Paint and wire.

Concept-We had several jokes and serious discussions about  inside and  out side during the three weeks of this residency and I decided to make this the title of my work. Of course my work is more about questioning than answering ,where such a structure begins inside or outside.
Inside or whats within the widest expansion or  inside the white painted sphere like part ,is it the empty space between the branches or is it the space we cant reach with our body or hands!

Once Upon a Time-

A building from the past and into the present, connected to nature
Something we can imagine it was built a long time ago except the use of a present material.
Where are we ? Coming from the past and immersed in the present.

Something coming from nature, taking its place in nature with man mark.

The idea was to follow the natural pattern of the landscape and make an intervention without disturbing it.

Description&Material-Two organic huts made of stones, glass bottles ,soil and cement.

Work and Process by Ryszard Litwiniuk-Canada

Northern Passage-This project is a poetic metaphor based on the Slavic legend about the dream to look beyond the horizon. It is like finding  a point of transition or gate to the other world. The circular shape of the spiral is the archetypical symbol of the universe, constant movement and transformation. This energy could be unpredictable, devastating, destructive as well as creative and poetic at the same time.

The site has lot of natural stone and waste wood.
This rock is not difficult to cut and there is lot of cut stone available in this region too.Apart from this other natural materials like bamboo, and wood from dead trees can be found.
The major occupation of the people living in this region is farming and brick making from the red soil that is available locally.

There will be visitors and nature lovers visiting this location through out the year.
The artists applying for this residency are expected to conceptualize their work keeping in mind the availability of these natural materials and creating a project that will enhance the aesthetic value of the place with their input.
We want the work to be a part of the environment and so would like as much as possible to work with the local materials.
